Course: Conversational German

Target Group

This course is designed especially for doctoral candidates from abroad and their non-German partners, who would like to learn German for use in daily life.

John Tiede, the tutor of this course, chooses the course topics based on your needs. The design of the individual sessions is determined by your questions about special topics and problems. From time to time the course will focus on German grammar. Because of the changing participants the course topics vary in their focus. Pronunciation and speaking are among the most important.

You must registered with the Graduate Center to participate in this course. Partners of registered doctoral candidates may also attend.

If you want to participate, please contact John Tiede via email. Please mention in your message for how long and in what form you have been learning German and which level you have reached. He will inform you on the levels of the courses and will tell you when the next course will take place. After that you can decide for yourself if you would like to participate on a regular basis.

The course takes place on and at:

  • Saturdays, 10.15 to 11.45 and 12.00 to 13.30
at the Graduate Center, Leibnizstraße 3, room 015, ground floor
