International doctoral researchers who are looking for a job outside academia in the near furture and postdocs (for two years after finishing their doctorate). German doctoral researchers are also welcome.

"Working Conditions & Culture Training" is the third part of a three-day seminar series. We recommend to take part in all modules. You habe to register for each of them separately.

Content:

There are many questions if you start looking for a job in a company for the first time. The series of seminars "Find a Job in Germany's Industry" gives an overview of most important topics related to the job search with specific information for internaltional doctoral candidates.

In the module “Working Conditions & Culture Training” you will get to find out everything about the employment contract, general conditions and other legal guidelines when in work, for example the number of holidays you are entitled to and your hours of work. A specific focus is given to salaries which also includes research tips and a calculation sheet. The next part gives you an overview of the current situation regarding work permits and their conditions. In the afternoon we will discuss the typical German way of working and what will be expected from you, as well as typical behaviour of your German colleagues.

Information:

This seminar will be repeated in German language in February 2019.

Registration:

Registrations are welcome until 28 October 2018 via our online portal. We will then determine whether the minimum number of 6 participants has been reached. Should the minimum number of participants not have been reached, the event will not take place due to financial reasons. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, further registrations are possible until 8 days previous to the beginning of the event.

Please note:

There are 12 places on this course. The persons that can participate in the course will receive an e-mail from the Graduate Center. Without this confirmation mail you cannot participate in the course. Only participants that have registered for the course via the Graduate Center will receive a certificate of attendance.

All further registrations will be placed on a waiting list. As soon as there is a free place on the course you will receive a message from us. If you do not receive any message you cannot participate in this course.
