Target Group:

International doctoral researchers who are looking for a job outside academia in the near furture and postdocs (for two years after finishing their doctorate). German doctoral researchers are also welcome.

"Job Search and Application Training" is the first part of a three-day seminar series. We recommend to take part in all modules. You have to register for each of them separately.

Content:

There are many questions if you start looking for a job in a company for the first time. The series of seminars "Find a Job in Germany's Industry" gives an overview of the most important topics related to the job search with specific information for internaltional doctoral candidates.

In the module "Job Search & Application Training" you will learn how to target your search for future employment, and where you can look for vacancies. There will also be explanation and practice on the meaning of typical German phrases in job advertisements. In the second part you will understand how to write your cover letter and CV, and how best to adapt your application to the job offer. You will get application examples and advice for your certificate selection. Moreover, you will receive many important hints for your application period.

Additional Service:

After the seminar you can receive an individual feedback for your application documents. If you want to make use of this bring a hard copy of your updated application documents a well as a relevat job description as an example for your field of interest.

Information:

This seminar will be repeated in German in February 2019.

Registration:

Registrations are welcome 28 October 2018 via our online portal. We will then determine whether the minimum number of 6 participants has been reached. Should the minimum number of participants not have been reached, the event will not take place due to financial reasons. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, further registrations are possible until 8 days previous to the beginning of the event.

Please note:

There are 12 places on this course. The persons that can participate in the course will receive an e-mail from the Graduate Center. Without this confirmation mail you cannot participate in the course. Only participants that have registered for the course via the Graduate Center will receive a certificate of attendance.

All further registrations will be placed on a waiting list. As soon as there is a free place on the course you will receive a message from us. If you do not receive any message you cannot participate in this course.
